Acrylic on Baltic Birchwood.
22" X 22" X 2" inches
2023

This "bridge" piece is built on a meticulously hand-crafted Baltic birchwood panel by sculptor Adam Labe, designed with a French cleat hanging system for seamless display. It serves as a connective work, bridging past and future, memory and imagination, inner reflection and external experience. The circular form underscores the cyclical nature of life, while the triangular motifs reference the ancient eye of providence, a symbol of vision, insight, and self-awareness.

Using a “narrative syntax” of hundreds of symbolic objects, screen-printed, painted, and cut into floating silhouettes, Jackson's layers imagery such as flowers sprouting from houses or airplanes carrying ribbons. These motifs shift meaning depending on their juxtapositions, echoing the way memory and consciousness reconfigure over time. The addition of puffy paint, watercolor, gouache, spray paint, ink, and light-sensitive pigments enhances the sense of passage and transformation, further reinforcing the work as a bridge between states of being, perspectives, and moments in time.
