"Swarm"
Isadora Jackson’s "Swarm" series transforms the traditional collage medium by incorporating a dynamic three-dimensional element that extends the artwork off the wall and into the surrounding space. Using screenprints and multimedia on Arches paper, Jackson creates a vibrant, layered composition where pieces of paper protrude from the wall, often enhanced with metal components, evoking the frenetic energy of a swarm. These protruding elements bring the work to life, creating a playful interaction between the artwork and its environment, as the paper seems to float, twist, and move. The vibrant colors and swirling shapes are energized by the shifting shadows cast by the paper as it extends into space, adding an extra layer of depth and fluidity to the piece.
Through this immersive installation, Jackson explores the concept of a swarm as a living, evolving force, rather than a static pattern. The three-dimensional aspects of the work invite viewers to engage with the piece from multiple angles, emphasizing its dynamic, transformative nature. The interplay of light, shadow, and paper creates a constantly changing visual experience, underscoring the fluidity and interconnectedness of the work. "Swarm" is a celebration of movement, connection, and change, inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship to both the physical and conceptual space, and offering a powerful reflection on the continuous evolution of life and collective energy.
